Triple telescopic sliding gate by Tricky Gate in Noosa, QLD.
Tricky Gate gave Australian Fencing Awards some key information on their Triple telescopic sliding gate project.
Challenges involved in the project
- The Most challenging part of this project was the opening space was 3 x longer than the space we had for the gates to retract into.
- The ground consisted of another challenge a 3 degree slope running down hill towards the closing end of the gate, which over was 340mm height difference from one end to the other.
- Making the gate panels the correct size took us some engineering which we figured out! We also designed our own gate pulley system (telescopic system) so that the gates would all open and close together.
Products used on the project
- This whole project was custom designed, drawn and manufactured by us.
- The gates are constructed from extruded aluminium.
- The bottom section of each panel/leaf is constructed of 80mm x 40mm x 3mm RHS and this houses the internal wheels, pulleys and cable for the telescopic system.
- The frame of the gate is 40mm x 40mm x 3mm SHS radius corner it makes up the sides and top of each leaf/panel. Inside that are the 65mm x 16mm secured in by 20mm x 20mm channel.
- Everything is welded together and uses no fixings.
- The Aluminum gate track is also extrusion. The telescopic system is made up of 63mm sheaves and 2mm wire rope.
- We needed to have a reliable motor that could also pull the gates weightless up the incline so Our motor of choice on this Project was the Nice Robus 1000.
Outcome of the project
- This out come was a success but a lot of initiative and hard work went into the design process to make the job a piece of brilliance.
- We started the project with the right equipment taking measurements to calculate the fall of the land and help in the gate design needs.
- The measurements were then taken back and we re-created the area exactly the same so that we could draw the gates in, to make sure it all fitted and worked before commencing manufacturing.
- A lot of time spent in the design process made this job go in without missing a beat. Using High quality materials and product will make sure this gate will work for many decades to come.
This project by Tricky Gate is a finalist in the Australian FENCING Awards 2021.
