Winner Innovation & Excellence in Rural Fencing - City of Orange heritage project by WNS Contracting

The project for the Orange City Council is in an area subject to naturally occurring asbestos so full Safe Work NSW Asbestos protocol had to be enacted.

Along a major arterial highway within the road reserve, the fence had to go on top of significant subsurface infrastructure and had to be pit into the mines mullock heaps (mine tailing or waste rock), the ground was extremely uneven so making the fence look like it follows a line that was aesthetically pleasing was hard.

Products utilised on the project:

  • Ironbark and Hard Wood from Pilliga Natural Timbers
  • Gates were made specially at Pilliga Natural Timbers

Orange City Council expected 'A' quality in materials and workmanship. Good value for rate-payers money, the highest safety standards to be upheld, in relation to asbestos and working within the road research adjacent to a major highway. They also expected deadlines to be met and that the contractors would operate in a totally professional manner.

All stakeholders (Council and Safe Work NSW) were happy with the level of safety that WNS Contracting practiced in relation to the high-level risk factors. The fence was well built and met the aesthetic requirements of the town beautification project.
